Q. Name the path the trigeminal nerve branches take through the skull from intracranial to extracranial.
A.
The trigeminal nerve enters the trigeminal canal (which houses the trigeminal ganglion) in the petrosal bone of the skull.
The ophthalmic branch travels through the orbital fissure.
The maxillary branch enters the round foramen, travels in the alar canal, and exits through the rostral alar foramen.
The mandibular branch travels through the oval foramen.
